Know before you go

The details that make for a smooth trip, from what ID to bring to what the weather will be like.

Travel documents

This is a closed loop cruise, which means it starts and ends at the same US port. That allows US citizens to sail with either of these:

  • A passport book that’s valid for your whole trip
  • An original or certified birth certificate with a raised seal, plus a government photo ID like a driver’s license

Children under 16 who are US citizens need only their birth certificate. Copies and hospital certificates aren’t accepted. Non-US citizens need a passport and should check visa rules for each country.

We strongly recommend a passport book. If you miss the ship in port or need to fly home early for an emergency, you can’t board an international flight without one.

Money on board and ashore

The ship is cashless. You link a credit card at check in, and your cruise card works for everything on board. Your onboard credit is applied to that account automatically.

  • US dollars are accepted in all four ports
  • Bring small bills for taxis, tips, and beach chairs
  • Call your bank before you go so your card works in Mexico, Honduras, and Belize

Weather in March

March is dry season in the Western Caribbean and one of the best months to go. Expect sunny days in the low to mid 80s°F, warm ocean water around 80°F, and lower humidity than summer. It’s also well outside hurricane season, which runs June through November.

What to pack

  • Reef safe sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses
  • Water shoes for rocky beaches and the snorkel tour
  • Daytime dress is casual. There are two optional dressy nights, so bring a nicer outfit or two.
  • A light sweater, since restaurants and theaters are air conditioned
  • Medications in your carry-on, plus motion sickness tablets if you need them
  • A lanyard for your cruise card

How to join the group

Cabins are held on a first come basis. Once our 24 cabins are booked, the group rate and perks are gone.

Choose a cabin

Pick ocean view, balcony, or suite and send us the names of everyone sailing with you, exactly as they appear on their passport or ID.

Pay your deposit

$250 per person holds your cabin, and it’s fully refundable until the final payment date. Pay off the balance in any amounts you like before then.

Make final payment

Final payment is due December 5, 2027, 90 days before sailing. After that, cancellation fees apply and increase closer to the cruise.

Travel protection is highly recommended. Buy it soon after your deposit, since many plans only cover pre-existing medical conditions if you purchase within a couple of weeks of your first payment.

Good questions

The things guests ask most about this sailing. Don’t see yours? Reach out and we’ll get you an answer.

Do I need a passport?

Not to sail, but we strongly recommend one. Because this cruise starts and ends in Miami, US citizens can use a certified birth certificate plus a government photo ID instead. The risk is if something goes wrong in port. If you miss the ship or have a medical emergency and need to fly home from Mexico, Honduras, or Belize, you’ll need a passport book to board the flight, which can mean days of delays without one. A first time passport can take several weeks, so apply early.

I’m traveling solo. Can I still come?

Absolutely, and group cruises are one of the best ways to travel solo. Cruise fares are priced for two people, so a solo guest in a regular cabin usually pays close to double the per person rate. Some ships have studio cabins designed for one guest at a lower price. You can also ask us to match you with a roommate from the group to split the cost.

Are flights included?

Flights aren’t included, but we’re happy to book them for you. Plan to arrive in Miami the day before the cruise. Flight delays are common, and the ship won’t wait for late passengers. On the last day, book flights after noon so you have time to leave the ship, clear customs, and get to the airport.

How do gratuities work?

The cruise line adds a daily service charge to your onboard account for the crew: $18.50 per person each night, or $21 in suites. You can prepay them before the cruise so there’s less to pay at the end. Many guests also tip extra in cash for a favorite cabin steward or server.

Should I buy a drink package?

It depends on how much you drink. Packages are priced per person, per day, and are usually worth it if you’d have about five or more drinks a day. If one adult in a cabin buys an alcohol package, every adult in that cabin has to buy one too. We’ll help you do the math before you decide.

What happens if I need to cancel?

Your $250 deposit is fully refundable until December 5, 2027. After that, the cruise line’s cancellation fees apply, starting with a portion of the fare and rising to the full fare close to sailing. Travel protection is highly recommended, since it can reimburse you if you cancel for a covered reason like illness or a family emergency.

What if I’m late getting back to the ship?

The ship will not wait for guests on their own tours. Plan to be back on board at least 30 minutes before the all aboard time listed in your daily planner. Tours booked through the cruise line, like our group snorkel tour, are guaranteed to get you back. If one runs late, the ship waits.

I get seasick. Will I be okay?

Most people feel little or no motion on today’s large ships, and the Western Caribbean is usually calm in March. If you’re sensitive, choose a cabin on a lower deck near the middle of the ship, where you feel the least movement. Bring motion sickness medicine or patches, and get fresh air on deck if you feel queasy.

Can we bring the kids?

Yes, please! This is a friends and family cruise, so all ages are welcome. The ship has free kids clubs for ages 3 to 17, along with family pools, water slides, and kid-friendly dining. Babies must be at least 6 months old on the sailing date. Guests under 21 can’t buy or drink alcohol on board.

Save your spot on board

Only 24 cabins are held for our group. Reserve yours by December 5, 2027 and start counting down to the Caribbean.
